Claims reps are a joke, May, 2016
I have been dealing with claims rep, Samantha Thompson for weeks just trying to get her to issue a check in my name and not some name shes made up. My agent and her co workers seem to find the policy under my name but when the checks are issued they are in someone else name. She will not return calls or emails and has made this claims process a lot more headache than the spring weather in Texas

Engineered Wood floors damaged by water heater leak. Submitted quote for replacement from original vendor and Safeco refused to pay citing cost was to high. Adjuster then brought in Safeco preferred vendor. I was forced to accept the preferred vendors proposal which was 2000 dollars less. We wanted our original store to install our floor but after deductible we were $4500 short to replace our floor. Safeco will not help you when you need them. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

This is a terrible company. Insurance company's are supposed to try and help you, not screw you. They are cheap and worthless. My cars been in the shop 3 weeks, going on 4 because they didn't want to pay the full amount that it would take to fix my car. Everytime another issue comes up the shop I have working on it has to call safeco to get another check to pay for more parts. Needless to say, I had an estimate done by the shop I have working on it, they said $5000 to fix my car, safeco only said$2500. In the three weeks there's been 3 supplements done to get needed parts. I would highly recommend not even thinking about using safeco

I filed a claim after a hail storm tore thru our town. My contractor estimated about 22k in damages, the adjuster came back with an estimate of $1806. Huge difference! They said they would do a reinspection if my contractor sent pictures of the damage and an itemized estimated, which he did on 3 separated occasions. They claimed once they got everything that they saw no damage and if I wanted to pursue the issue I would need to find another contractor. The new contractor found the same issues as the first contractor. This company has provided the worst customer service I have ever received.

Experienced a water damage on August 25 and filed a claim on the same day. I called Paul Davis to begin the damage mitigation by drying structure. The water damage was the result of a leak emanating from a window flashing seal failure. I attempted to contact the assigned claims adjuster twice by phone and once by email, without success. It wasn't until I called and left a message with the adjusters supervisor that he returned my call; the next day. My deductible was $1,000. I paid $775 to Paul Davis. I finally received a claim determination during the second week of October; 6 weeks to process the claim. My claim was denied. I hired my own contractor who repaired the damage for $300. I insure 5 cars, 2 houses and carry a $5 million dollar personal liability policy through Safeco representing $10,000 in annual premiums. I hope that Safco feels the $100 saved in denying my claim is worth the loss of $10,000 in annual premiums. I'm switching my coverage to a more reliable company.

I bought into Safeco because the cost was dramatically less than other carriers I've used. However, spending half on insurance has meant getting zero help on claims. Agents did nothing to help us after we were rear-ended by a kid this winter. It has felt worth saving so many hundreds of dollars every year - just have to realize you're not buying any service, just a safety net/legal obligation

In my opinion they are crooks. After AZ had the 1000 year wind and rain record storms, my 7700k rental house suffered substantial damage. Two weeks after I called,finally an adjuster came out and gave me a check for $600, which reflected my $1000. deductible. Actually my house sustained $14k worth of damage. They sent their parade of people,adjusters verified wind damage, 3 rooms of drywall damage. Still not even a call back from claims. I have 4 homes, vehicle, trailer, umbrella with them. I am currently shopping for a new carrier. Their cheap rates fooled me.

Ihad homeowners insurance with Safeco.A hailstorm hit my house and according to the adjuster it only hit one third of my roof.Of course this is absurd.They refused to pay for a replacement.After talking to several roofing contractors,none of which would do just the repairs due to the whole roof being damaged,I had to pay for the $1660.00 out of pocket.As you might have guessed,I am now insured elsewhere.

They took my vehicle accepted liability and said they were going to send me a check. first they said that they sent it to me and that I refused the check.(that never happen) they said they were going to resend the check we confirmed the correct address . I haven't gotten it on the mail. Contacted them and now they are saying they sent it to a different address and the adjuster is not answering. bottom line is been 61 days and counting and apparently they don't have the ability to be able to mail a check.

The Los Angeles Safeco claims adjusters will deny being able to contact their insured and then deny your claim. They want you to feel hopeless and give up on the claims process. They perform no investigation on their own. They will make you spend all your time and money to forward accident police reports, pictures, names and contacts, and all pertinent information, only to delay then deny your claim.
I will always warn people about this insurance company. Save yourself the headaches and grief and avoid this insurance company. They are the WORST I have ever had to deal with.

Safeco took advance of my 85 year old mother and refused to pay her claim in full. The field adjuster hammered down shingles destroying evidence before roofer arrives. Safeco/Liberty Mutual wanted to give $300 on claim and patch the roof which devalues the home. Safeco wanted her to pay two deductibles for her loss. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!

My wife was backed into in a parking lot by a Safeco Client and was forced to accept their offer to pay only 80% of the repairs to our vehicle because in their view she shouldn't have been there (home in the garage rationale)and would've not been struck. So unless you are their customer they look to screw the other party in a crash. With companies like this we should go to national car insurance like Canada's system.

Our claims rep was very clear, she *only* answers the phone from 3:00-3:30pm. It's absurd.
So during that 30-minute window, we hit redial (busy signal), redial (busy signal), redial (busy signal), etc etc. It's like calling a radio station contest!
We finally get through to leave a message. She calls back and says she passed our case onto someone else, stop calling.
The new guy is much nicer, but just as hard to get hold of.
Then they screw up every possible detail of the claim. I gave the report accurately to the initial rep - but they keep changing it. They change who the driver was. They change the license plate numbers. They change the date of the accident. Each time...oh so sorry...let us investigate this (in other words, another 5 day delay).
I could go on. I would say they're inept, but the truth is, I think it's intentional. Delays, shuffled around, lost paperwork, oh my email address changed. Just the worst. Stay away.

Good luck trying to get your claim fixed! Not only are they extremely rude but when you call to ask what is taking so long they try to play the blame game. my cars has been in the shop for 3 weeks!!!! and that's just to get my bumper fixed. Save your money and go elsewhere, i know that;s what I'll be doing once my car gets fixed.

I was involved in a accident with a SAFECO insured driver who was Texting while driving. I will not delve into how the driver tried to leave the scene of the accident or had some choice words for me.
Anyway, I got estimates on my repairs from my mechanic but SAFECO (the other driver's insurance co.) wanted to use their preferred ABRA auto shop. After going back and forth with SAFECO, I finally gave in and took time off work to get an estimate on repairs.
The good folks at ABRA notated on the Estimate of Record that they recommended that SAFECO give the funds to me to get my own repairs done. I was given a copy of the document and another was sent to SAFECO by ABRA. 3 weeks into waiting for a check, I contacted the SAFECO's rep that was assigned to my claim. She said she had not seen the paperwork. I offered to send it to her and also indicated that I was expecting a check.
The following day I received an email from my SAFECO rep, saying that I needed to drop off my car at ABRA for repairs. I called ABRA to find out more info. They had no info regarding performing repairs on my car. According to ABRA, they still insisted that a check be given to me.
I communicated with my SAFECO rep about this - that was 2 weeks ago. I am still waiting.....

I had a four-plex insured with Safeco for over 10 years and I never filed a claim. A month ago an agent from Safeco called to tell me that they had an inspector check my property and they were cancelling my policy because some of the siding was bent and a window was boarded up. I checked out the apartments. One of the renters had installed a window cooler and had used a board to block the opened window and hold the cooler in place. I checked out the siding and yes, some of it was bent and could be replaced. I asked that the inspector call me so I could discuss this matter with him, but I never heard from him. I am very disappointed in Safeco. I can understand their concern if something is not safe, but they should have given me a certain amount of time to correct the problem before cancelling the policy. They did not do that and would not return my call. I consider myself a loyal long-time customer, and I think it is pretty rotten that they just considered to cancel the policy without any warning after they had collected 10 years of premiums.

If I was able to take away this star I would.... I would NOT recommend this company they will give you a low price at first and then after a year push your bill up 30$ or more. I understand things changes in each state but can I go to another insurance and it be way cheaper they are all about getting their money. Also when you cancel services within your period expect a bill NC motorist, it will be just as much as you regular bill they call it a premium fee (whatever that is) when you ask to speak with a manger no one is available and the representative will leave a message on your behalf.

They raised my rates 3 times in 2 years for no reason. When I tried to stop them from auto electronic funds transferring from my checking account, they put up a fuss and tried to charge me $184.00 UP FRONT- CASH as a fee for doing so. When I protested, they "adjusted" things and then came up with a good figure for the next two months, olnly to change their minds again and tell me they would bill me $162.00 if I skipped one month's payment.I tried to cancel my policy and was given the runaround.
When I finally cancelled my policy, I was told I would get a refund in about a week. Instead, they sent me a bill for 10 days that they claimed I still owed them for- they claimed I was paying "behind" the coverage dates. They also claimed I had to pay them a $50.00 for an SR 22 renewal fee- for insuring me for 1 more month!

The most massive house explosion in colorado history happened in June 2014. There is one house in between my house and the explosion. My house now has cracks around most of the windows, including the basement windows in the foundation. I also have drywall nails coming out of the ceiling and walls in multiple areas. There is damage around the door frames of 4 doors in the upper lever of my house. I also have nails coming out of the entire south side of my house. The response I got from safeco is that this is normal wear and tear of my house and they do not cover any damages due to earth movement. I have paid my previums for 6.5 years to discover that I really never did have insurance as they are not providing their end of the bargon. Frustrating and Ridiculous. THIS COMPANY IS SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR THEFT.

I had a burglary after I was insured by Safeco for 7 yrs! My claim included a stolen truck and household items. The Truck claim was okay however they are doing more investigation on the burglary. I had a stream of bad luck the last couple of years with burglaries on other property not insured by Safeco. And not in Oregon. Sometimes you just have bad luck, it happens.
Safeco is dragging their feet and I have cooperated fully with them. I am out of pocket for items I replaced from burglary about 8K. A Safeco investigator called for more information and I was happy to give it. They have bothered my neighbors after I asked Safeco investigator to talk to an Oregon detective that could have some information that I gave them.
I have not been paid and I have not gotten any answers from the adjuster as when I will get paid. Her reply is that " I don't know".
My new Safeco policy went up this month $300. From 1000. I have only had this one claim in 7 years!
I am going with another carrier. I have made a report to the insurance dept. of Oregon.
I will never do business with Safeco again.

I have had 4 policies with Safeco for 14 years. I just had my first claim last month. I backed my car into a pole. Damage is less than $1000. I called in my claim and received the worst customer service imaginable. I left 3 messages for my adjuster without a return call. I then talked to a customer service person who was incredibly rude and short with me. I got 3 online quotes from other companies after spending about an hour on-line. I called the company with the highest rating (which incidentally had rates 10% lower than what I was paying with Safeco) and switched right then and there. I just called back the customer service department and cancelled all of my policies. When I told them I was cancelling because of my claims experience I didn't even receive an apology. Don't give them your business, apparently they don't care whether you are a customer or not.

Waste of time company they just want your money and when u finally need to file a claim they don't give you anything back! We had our house robbed and had $8000 dollar loss in items, this company had us find pictures, receipts, videos of proof that we owned the items. They asked us to make a list of how long we owned each item where we bought it from and all in all it totaled $8000. Its been about three weeks since we have been robbed and we finally get a response that we will be getting only $1180.00 back! What does this insurance company expect us to even replace! How do you go from $8000 lost to only getting back $1180.00 back! They depreciate your items 15% for each year that you owned it! so we lost $4010.41 in deprecation but of course they only tell you this after you have made your list. Then 3300 in taxes taken out then! 2100 deductible. you might as well never filed a claim and just accept that fact that you were robbed and their is nothing you can do about it rather then try to file a claim and EXPECT to get something back. Dont waste your time with this company your just paying them to say you have insurance god forbid you need to file a claim.

Watch out for this greedy corporation. If you have a claim, they treat you like you are a suspect on trail. The agent came to my house and actually caused more damage to my home then what was there to begin with, then determined we wouldn't get any money for the claim.

I insured with Safeco about 10 months ago. We had an agreed upon price for homeowners and auto for one yearâ€™s coverage which I paid . Several weeks later, Oops, we need another $350 because they now concluded that my house was really worth 1.2 million dollars. If you check it out on Zillow it comes in at about $380 thousand. I learned that when they change the evaluation of your house, they also up the value of the contents, like your socks, jeans and underwear.
In my view this was bait and switch. They refused to discuss it and I wrote to the attorney general of Massachusetts who told me I should hire a lawyer. Safeco knows you are not going to hire an attorney to go after three to four hundred bucks.
Today, I had the biggest belly laugh in a long time. They were refusing to renew my policy for reasons which were â€¦well you judge: my firewood was stacked within 36 inches of a wood burning stove. Duh, I could have moved the stack a couple of inches. Or some moss on the roofâ€¦.hello, have you heard of bleach, and those killer twigs on the front porch roof.
I guess it looks better for them when they drop someone than when someone drops them, because I was never going to re-up with these guys. The only bright spot in this is that I never had to file a claim. Could you imagine the nightmare that would have been? Bottom line, when you think of Safeco, think ebola.

I have insured my home and at least 3 vehicles with Safco for nearly 10 years with 1 single claim during that period... I contacted my agent today for coverage of a second home we're purchasing only to learn they will not even consider my application. I will be finding another insurance company to send my 50,000 dollars to over the next 10 years!

Filed a claim, and have never been treated so rude or talked to so rudely. The claims adjuster started telling me what they would no do. My car is a 2010, bought new, and this rude woman is telling me that they will only cover after market parts, not Toyota parts because they consider the car used. The car is still under warranty, then she says how they will only cover a rental car for three days, even though the repairs will take seven days. Bottom line, I am getting original parts, and the rental car is paid for by going over this morons head. Horrible ins. company, do not use, they only care about trying to beat you down if you have a claim.

I will never use or recommend Safeco Insurance again. I switched to a cheaper insurance company and not only did they bill me for an additional month but they sent me a threatening
letter stating they they were going to send me to a collection agency. To me this company is very unethical and dishonest. They could offer free insurance and I would not accept it from them. I am very disappointed and I will never recommend or use them again!

Lovey-dovey when they want your business but absolutely the worst when it comes to claims. Employees are extremely rude brutes, arrogant and very unprofessional. This was the first claim I have filed in my 43 years of age. I have friends that work for other insurance carries that are amazed about the runaround Safeco has given me. I am not upset about the amount they are covering, just the process and they keep passing me around to a new claims agent that takes weeks to respond. When they do respond they are just delaying the process with questions that have already been answered.

You get what you pay for safeco is cheaper but when you file a claim they will pressure you into going to there preferred shops and those shops will cut every corner possible we have filed 2 auto claims and takes forever to get car fixed and shop will want you to show them what is wrong with car we have been called sing a car was ready and go to get it and bumper not straight or headlight not straight or grill not straight just on and on and on after 3 or 4 trips they finally got me to take the first vehicle home by saying just bring it by later and we will adjust the grill and bumper now the next claim car is in shop and have been 2 times and car looks worse now from them working on it than it did from the accident 2 months car still in shop safeco keeps saying don't worry its at our preferred shop we have a good relationship with them it will be ok but I have a new car less than 15 thousand miles in body shop and the work they did on it looks worse than the car did from the wreck how is this OK

dont waste your time or $$$. we had all of our cars, boat, house, rental properties etc. one family member gets their license suspended and they drop our coverage. price has been going up, service down. Find another provider that wants your business and respects a long time customer.

We filed one claim with this company, they said unless we lost over 3/4 of our roof they wont pay for damages. We had a huge wind storm that removed shingles. Yes it was cheap insurance but the rest of the services were crummy at best. I would never recommend this company unless you just need to say you have insurance. They are horrible with claims

in May of 2014, I walk into a robbery in progress in my home. the individual who is a complete stranger steals more than 20,000 dollars worth of items out of my home. in addition vandalizes the home by throwing food all over and making a horrible mess. the individual also attacked me.911 is called.
I file a homeowners claim. I work with the most disrespectful snottiest staff with Safeco. this claim is still going on. Everyone i have spoke with talks rudely and arrogantly and lies to me and tells me items are not covered when they are. All the staff keep telling me this is an ongoing investigation to keep prolonging this claim. I have told them this individual attacked me and i could have been murdered in my home. Their response was so we do not care.i am appalled this company continues to stay in business.

Had a big hail storm two years ago. Filed a claim & they said they didn't see any hail damage even though 2 roofers said we did. Everyone else in my neighborhood got their roofs replaced but not us because Safco wouldn't pay. Recently we had a wind storm go through & even damaged planes at an airport less than a mile away. Again they denied our claim even though their adjuster said we had wind & hail damage. They said it was because of wear. Everyone has wear on their roof & why did all our neighbors get their roofs replaced with other insurance companies? Went to their site & saw all these great reviews but u can't write your own on their site. I'm am SO SO unhappy with this company. Do not use them.!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had Safeco for 2-3 years and they have been horrible. Safeco adjuster Daniella Rodriguez never returns phone calls or emails when you need to talk to her.. What's the purpose of having an insurance company when you need them.. They will take your monthly payment but they wont cover you when you're involved in a accident. Whether it's your fault or not, they should cover you. My car was in the shop for almost three weeks waiting for them to pay, needless to say i had to pay out of pocket. Its been a month now and they still have not returned my phone calls or emails.. The last time I spoke with the adjuster, she gave me the run around and then changed her story. I would not recommend them to anyone. Please stay away and go with another insurance company.

We have been with Safeco since we purchased our home in early 2012, after the first year they raised our policy rate by $600, this time its $500. We have 3 autos and our home insured by this joke of an insurance provider... we are changing our policy to NATION WIDE who has no doubt given us a better rate. first off, they had our address incorrect for months and ask me "didnt you find it odd that you weren't getting anything from us?" i don't spend the day wondering when I last got mail from safeco, you might, but I have a life. I called them to find out about a ridiculous charge on my bank account 3x in one week and every time I spoke to someone, I was told "I just updated your address", the next month, address still incorrect.
second off, bank account charged for 'unverifiable dmv report' for my husband because Safeco says they were not provided the correct information. we gave them all correct info from the beginning speaking to the broker. they still managed to charge us 800 for the 'unverifiability' 5 months into our contract and then tell us 'it will be explained on my next billing statement'! how about you tell me what youre charging us BEFORE you charge us! we are told it will be refunded, then they charge same thing again the next month!
then I call to speak to a supervisor several times, before I FINALLY get one, I am disconnected on several times and then one operator tells me 'we just had a fire drill and none of the supervisors are back inside yet' but yet she was answering calls? I find this hard to believe. then when I finally get a supervisor, I am told that we will receive a refund on a monthly basis as a credit towards our bill rather than the same manner they took it which was IN FULL! then I ask for documentation of my account and was 'respectfully declined' my request with reasoning given of 'its ours, not yours' basically and that they would not continue contentious communication with me, DO YOU EXPECT ANYONE TO BE HAPPY ABOUT THIS!! lets see what all they are willing to give the attorney! see you in court Safeco! bunch of incompetent idiots! God help you if you have to file a claim. and the 'good' comments on this site are probably from the employees that work for this piece of crap company.

It all sounds and looks very affordable and reasonable. I was satisfied with moving every policy that I have to safeco, it seemed that the coverages were good and prices were reasonable. I had a break in occur and lost a large amount of tools. I was distraught at the loss of my collection that I had been building for over 10 years but felt that I could replace. That was until I had the displeasure of working with the insurance company. The short version is, it was my fault that I'm not a lawyer and that I didn't find the "negotiable" words in the policy. I contested them but was informed that their legal team felt that it was inside there statute of limitations to not act as my insurance company but that they could remain as the company that simply bills me for the policy. I'm 45 years old and have had plenty of experience with insurance companies and with some limited claims. I can say with complete certainty, Safeco is the most corrupt insurance organization that I have ever had the displeasure of having to deal with. Needless to say I moved on immediately and hope you will save yourself the trouble and move on before it costs you $10k out of pocket. Thank you Unsafeco for your complete lack of responsibility and I hope that this post is read by many before they make the mistake of trusting you to "protect" them from anything.

I purchased Safeco online a couple of yrs ago. My insurance on my modest 1156 sq.ft. home was approx.$550.oo. The next yr was $750.00. Then in Jan. I get a renewal of $1400.00. I too have excellent credit.I called the 800 # I have for Safeco. Let them know immediately thereâ€™s no way I can or will accept that & if they canâ€™t find a better price to forget it. They couldnâ€™t,, so I told the lady then I wonâ€™t be renewing my insurance. I then found new insurance which was about what I paid last yr to safeco. I then called safeco back & said if you can match their figure Iâ€™d keep safeco. They couldnâ€™t. So I told them again, I wouldnâ€™t renew on Feb. 02, 2014 ( the renewal date). I then get a bill from them saying I owed $160.00. I ignored it. I then get a notice from them saying theyâ€™ll report me to the credit bureaus if I donâ€™t pay their EXTORTION FEE. I called them up IRATE. I told them thereâ€™s no FREAKIN Way Iâ€™m paying what I didnâ€™t want or need ..and I told them they were a bunch of Crooks n Thieves trying to take advantage of people who just let this stuff go & I wasnâ€™t one of them. I then report this immediately to the Oklahoma Insurance Commission. Mind you, since I purchased online, my insurance agent was from California & had no telephone number, thatâ€™s why I called the 800# at safeco to tell them Iâ€™d not be renewing. Anyway, about a month ago. Today I recieved a notice from a collection agency saying I now had a $160.00 claim against me from safeco. Upon contacting the Oklahoma Insurance Commission I told them what was up & they told me theyâ€™ve contacted safeco & safeco had 30 to reply. Thatâ€™s where Iâ€™m at. I take pride n good credit & being responsible.these Insurance companies are extorting our CREDIT RATINGS.My Insurance rates shouldnâ€™t have a DARNED thing to do with my CREDIT RATIngs.

My roof had a small leak on July 29. I reported this to Safeco the next day. I asked if they had a list of reputable local roofers to recommend. They put me in touch with their subsidiary company, Innovation Property Network (who should be avoided if you value your sanity). IPN gave me to a roofing company that's located an hour away, in another state, and is anything but reliable, according to online reviews that I only found after IPN had me in the clutches of that company. Exactly two months after I reported the roof leak, the replacement roof was said to be finished, after a great deal of off-and-on "work" including breaking the TV antenna. This should have been a one-day job. Shortly thereafter, the roof failed the city building inspector's check - badly.
Now it's more than three months since the roof leak, IPN is being totally unhelpful, and after saying I should use the original awful contractor to "make things right," agreed to put me in touch with another non-local contractor, the only other nearby one on their list of approved contractors (who pay to be on that list, as it turns out). But the IPN fellow keeps being out of town and not returning my calls or those of the Safeco adjuster, who seems to be really trying to get all this finished.
If I use someone other than their contractors to get a roof that'll pass the city inspection, Safeco/IPN won't give a warranty on the roof. They require that any other contractor I use must submit an estimate to IPN - to "make sure they're not adding anything extra." Hideously comical, in view of the contractor IPN recommended and sent in the first place. Easy to see this lasting months more while the IPN character loses the estimate or disapproves it or just continues not to answer phone calls.
Safeco was a good company about 25 years ago, but not now , as they gave me over to their noxious subsidiary, Innovation Property Network.

We had a hail storm which was so bad our windows broke. Safeco sent an adjuster who agreed the damage was incurred, and covered under our policy. They sent an initial check for only about 1/2 of the damages and now do not return phone calls or emails. We have been passed among several representatives and our documentation has been lost. They are either inept or dishonest, either way, they are not providing the coverage we have paid for. I will never use Safeco again. If an insurance company does not pay claims, what good are they?

Switched to Safeco because of their competitive rates. However after the first couple of years the rates have consistently been rising, and at large increments at a time. Have referred many friends to Safeco who are seeing the same pattern. However, I know of people who have just signed up with them who received excellent rates. I could understand the rate increases if their were a lot of claims, but that is not the case.

In 2013 my livingroom floor erupted. I filed a claim with my insurance in August no one came out until the adjuster went on vacation; which was October 2013. It was concluded that there was a leak in the crawl space. The repairs from leaks were covered, but the adjuster stated that if a leak is older than 2 weeks the damages are not covered, that statement isn't in the contract.

Had seperate kid(maybe 20) that inspected roof(because safecos reps do not get on roofs) and gave him resutls. Came back with 3/4 replaced All slops, no valleys. My roofer stated that was not a good idea and will eventually cause issues. Asked for diagram and Safco would not give it to myself or roofer. Claim reps not very knowledgeable and outsourced. Also, Austin(my claim rep) stated that if only 88% was damaged, that would be all the company paid for. Do not care about if it is done right or not. GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

In August 2014 I switched to Safeco for my homeowners insurance. I was told that a home inspection was needed. I received a letter on October 1 2014 stating that I had until the 27th of October to have a hanging gutter fixed. I paid a contractor to repair & explained to him I needed the work finished by the 22nd. Unfortunately he wasn't able to finish on time. I called Safeco to inform them & ask for an extension. I was told that I would receive another letter with a final due date. My contractor finished on the 30th & I promptly emailed the pictures showing the work had been completed. The next day I received a letter informing me that my policy had been cancelled due to not having the repair done. I called and spoke to a rep who saw the notes from my previous call and saw the email with the pictures of the completed work. I was then told that the decision wouldn't be reversed. I was completely dumbfounded! I just received the refund check & it's dated for the same day I called! Wow! Fortunately for me I was able to call my previous insurance company Progessive & get a new policy with them that was actually cheaper & with better coverage.

Safeco took my insurance premium (which is incredibly high) out of my bank account as expected on the 15th of each month. However, the next day they took out more money - $165 - for absolutely no reason. Looking at it online via my banks website the first draft out of my account says "Insurance Premium" which was correct and expected. However the next day another draft titled "Safeco point of sale authorization" appears and takes out an additional $165. I called and the customer service reps were worthless. They said they didn't see the additional payment. I'm gonna wait a day and call back - maybe it will have appeared in their system at that point. Taking money from an account when you shouldn't is theft - they can't/shouldn't use my bank account as their personal piggy bank! It's ridiculous. I've been with them for 2 years and we've had multiple issues with them taking random drafts from our bank account. If I didn't check our account online fairly often then they could get by with it. It makes me wonder how many other accounts they've taken money from and it went unnoticed. They definitely lost a customer today - at some point you have to say enough is enough!! Shame on you Safeco!

Safeco changed their quote after we signed up. So initially it appeared it would be lower than our existing insurance company for the same type of coverage, later they increased to quote and removed some of the coverage options. Not to mention about sending multiple bills for payments that were made already. They also access your bank account without sending new policy or bill. Do NOT use Safeco for your home or car. They don't know what they are doing. Horrible customer service is another one that you get with Safeco package.

Then they renew my policy and I get a bill for $1200 pm for 6 months.. that's about $7000 for a 6 month policy because they paid for my car repairs... but isn't that why we pay insurance so that you are covered in case of such incidences??! Been with Safeco for 2 years now. All was okay until this 2nd year. They sent my Home and Auto insurance total amount to my Mortgage company. Of course my Mortgage company paid the entire amount because that is what was on the bill. I was told that Safeco would refund the overpaymennt. Never got a refund. Stay away from Safeco Ins Auto! Safeco will initiate your credit, in hopes it can save its subsidiary Liberty Mutual a few bucks. The lousy entity, parading as an insurance company, breaks the law often, and even holds a precedent or two. Be careful and check your credit report at least once a year because Safeco is known to violate the FCRA. Safeco will also contact the credit bureau and offer them a bogus "permissible purpose" to attain your private information.

Do not under any circumstances go with them! I was side swiped on my rear back side by a guy trying to pass me coming out of a restaurant. Filed a claim, and was told that they would "have to get pictures of the car and the other guys side of the story but most likely it would be considered his fault" 3 weeks later, I decided to call and check up because the lady had "forgotten" to send me her contact information so that I could email her the pictures and a copy of the police report, only to find out that they had ruled it my fault 2 weeks ago. Why wasn't I contacted? And better yet, how could you come to that decision without looking at a picture of my car or the police report. To make matters worse when contacting her supervisor, we found that the other company had taken fault, first but ours had decided to take fault and issue the other guy a check. However, after talking with the girl her supervisor said that "he had been mistaken" It's RIDICULOUS. We are in the process of finding a new company never have seen such awful customer service in my life.

I was with Safeco for over 5 years, when I bought a new house I insisted we stay with them because we had never had a problem, they accepted us through our private insurance agent, took our money for a year in advance and turned around a few weeks later saying they were dropping us because we had 2 claims several years ago. The funny thing is one of the claims we were pressured to submit by one of their representatives who hounded me to get my claim in when I wasn't sure I wanted to. How they didn't know we had 2 claims when we applied, when THEY were our insurance company is beyond imagination. I also have an auto policy with them and will be finding a new company as quickly as possible, they are not to be trusted.

During a car accident, my car has been totally lost. It is not my fault. safeco agree to pay me 100%. the value of my car was 15.5K. first time they said the car is only worth 1.1K. I talked to them again. they asked me to collect the market price from 3 car dealer. I did. the average price for that car should be 16K according to the market . then they give me another 1k. totally they gave 12k for my 15.5K car . I did have time to deal with them. I have not talk to them again. It is a bad company with no morality.

We had our car broken into. Safeco took a whole month to repair the glass. During that time we had to get a rental vehicle. We first payed out of pocket because our incident happened on a holiday. (After being assured that Safeco would cover it) after that Safeco was questioning as to why we had the rental car for so long. This is all while they took a whole month to order new parts a couple of times. Anyway this company did not present them selfs in a professional way and our claim manager seem to be some dimwit!

I signed for Safeco Car Insurance through Ross Agency. I was told the price of the insurance I had was going up. Having been with the agency for 40 years I agreed to switch. My premiums were $429 for 6 months. I was happy.
A month after I switched, I had an accident that was my fault. My car was totaled since it had 194,000+ miles. There were no injuries. After investigating, Safeco determined they would pay me $4500 of which I received $4000. I learned later that the cost of the whole accident was $6000.
In a few months when my insurance was renewed for another 6 months, I was shocked to receive a bill for over $900, a $503 dollar increase, over 100%!!!
I called Ross agency and talked to the owner. He told me that what it was and I had to pay it. He also told me he had looked for a cheaper rate but found none.
Now I am a 61 year old woman who before the accident had 2 tickets in her lifetime and the only other accident was my car was hit by a deer.
Safeco was totally out of line with their pricing.
I have since moved to Miller Agency and they found insurance for me for $572 for 6 months. While Safeco was great on the claim, I would have paid for my accident in 2 years with premiums. I would not recommend Safeco.

We were with Montgomery Insurance, they bought out Safeco and stuck us with them. The only paper we received was our new insurance cards. In December my husband purchased a new vehicle that changed our premium by $13.33. Not until MARCH were we notified, by the DMV for lapse in coverage. THEY CANCELLED OUR POLICY OVER $13.33. When our renewal was up anyway! I guess picking up the phone was too much, they'd rather just lose business. The representative, Suzette was extremely rude and had no communication skills. It was like she was reading from script.

Wow, what a rotten experience from a claims standpoint. Their insured pulled out from a parking space and hit us, after the police came they took her away in handcuffs for DUI, you would think with this would make the claim be easy. Found their claims handling experience and competency of their staff just awful. They insisted on only paying for aftermarket parts on a car that was less than a year old. Could never get them to return calls or respond in a timely manner. They gave our email address out to their insured. As long as you never have to have a claim, they may be fine, but in my opinion you should run, not walk away!

I went with Safeco from advice from my local insurance agent last December 2013 for Home and Auto. Around January 13th, 2014 I found a Safeco inspection door hanger attached to the front door. I made payments and received the policy information etc., all is good I believe, until October 18th of 2014 when I receive a non-renewal notice of the Home Owners policy due to peeling paint on two barns that are on the property, but not on the policy. They want to keep the auto policy, as they sent me a bill for that, what a rip-off. If they would have mentioned the out buildings were a concern, I would have taken care of that. I had been busy running my Father, a 2nd Armored Division Veteran back and forth to the Hospital, I am a 1st Armored Division Veteran myself, as if it matters. At least I can joke with Dad that our service was for protection of lousy insurance companies. But the real Joke is on us with these useless Insurance Companies that rake in millions a year and want dollars for dimes.

2005 Acura TL. Got my car back from AAMCO from a $2900 transmission service. 16 Hours Later A Old Lady Hit My Girl On The passenger side turning the car 180 degrees totalling the car (steering wheel air bag deployed,jammed driver door, damaged grill, headlight, etc). Arrived at the seen and all the bystander were saying she was speeding. Long story short made a claim, and the adjuster was only trying to pay $600 out of $2900 that I had paid for the transmission, not even 10 miles on transmission. After hearing that I've decided to get a lawyer to help fight this with the ladies auto insurance making her pay for the car installments that was about $4000 (engine services, alarm, and tires). MY INSURANCE, THE PEOPLE I PAY MONTHLY TO INSURE ME, TOLD MY LAWYER THAT BASED ON THE INFORMATION WE GAVE THEM AND THE OLD LADY GAVE THEM, THAT MY GIRL IS A FAULT!!! AREN'T THEY SUPPORT TO BE ON MY SIDE? SHE WAS SPEEDING GOING ABOUT (60+ MPH BASED ON BYSTANDERS INPUT) ON A 35 MPH STREET. AND MY GIRD AT BLAME!!!
Results: I have to pay the $500 deductible, lose a very nice car, lost $2300 on a transmission service. $360 on tires, $700 on alarm, $150 on engine service.

My pipes broke under the house, spewing sewage. I understood I could not get insurance company to repair my pipes, but was told by my insurance broker and even the plumber that the insurance should cover the damage done by the sewage leak. Unfortunately, Safeco DENIED MY CLAIM.

There invoice to remove one tree and throw debris on ground with 1 crane rental Timber Warriors charged $5850.00 just for the crane when actural crane invoice was for $500.00 another $1000.00 to throw all debis in yard so that I have to pay another tree service to clean their mess. $6350.00 was taken off the top of my structure claim and no allowance for debris removal. Now every one needs to know a garage door opener and florescent lights are structure falls under building materials not replacement cost. A ) rating would be to good for Safeco what a scam

Have had this insurance for less than 1 year, renewal is up in a month and just got dropped. The reason was because of a loose shingle..... It is a cosmetic top row of shingles to cover some flashing. If Safeco is going to be this picky, I dont want their policy. They of course want to keep the vehicles insured through them, but yeah right at this point, I will bundle it with some company that actually cares. Have not been impressed since day 1, and I was actually told by one of their people that Kansas has ruined the insurance industry, and these few states that get hail are the reason why the rates are going up. Not very professional in my opinion.

I have been with this company for 6 years without a claim. The only way to pay was auto pay or one lump payment. I have had 2 NSF in all of the time I've been with them (and paid it within a day or two) and they have cancelled my policy. I'm paying $6,000.00 a year in premiums without a claim EVER!

I leased a motorcycle through a dealer in west palm Beach and they put me under safeco insurance. At the beginning everything was fine, paying $69.95 a month for my premium, I had no problems. But when you get a motorcycle you're guaranteed to fall, I aknowledge that fact when I first got the motorcycle. I had my accident sometime late September at 11:00 pm. I called safeco and filed my claim, the customer service associate told me that she will dispatch a tow truck to pick up my motorcycle and it will arrive in 30 minutes. One hour passed I called again, two hours passed, I called again. I called them seven times to send me a damn tow truck and I didn't get one until 4:00 am. Keep in mind, my clothes were all shredded, I was all messed up with road rashes and could barely walk. I was sitting down in a bus stop waiting for five hours waiting for a f#&king tow truck while I was bleeding! I asked the tow truck driver why he took so long and he told me he didn't get the dispatch until 17 minutes ago. That shows you how much safeco cares about there customer while bleeding waiting for a tow truck, completely inhuman if you ask me. So fast foward to the next month, I went to a motorcycle body shop to do my estimate. They even did me the favor to fax the estimate to my claims adjuster. Her name is Christine Payne btw. I called her the next day and she told me she didn't recieve the estimate. I went again to fax it a week later and she told me she didn't still receive it. At this time I'm already pissed. I go fax it again and said she only received the first page. I eventually have up and ended my policy with those f#&ckwits. Moral of the story: F&#K THIS COMPANY. Don't business with them.

They will look to screw you any way possible. One of their insured drivers hit my parked car. Got police report. Stated that their driver was 100% at fault. Company said they would pay to rent a car. The problem is they stopped paying for the rental as soon as the car was fixed. Body shop doesn't release cars till they are paid by the insurance company. Most insurance companies overnight the payment or transfer funds electronically to the body shop to release the car. NOT SAFECO. They said the check will go in the mail (lol). Stuck paying for extra days of car rental for something that wasn't even my fault. THIS COMPANY SUCKS

Googled Safeco instead of going to their website on accident. I am shocked at the reviews. I had no issues with them and have been with them for years. My claim was paid fast and they made it easy on my. Maybe it is the agent not helping because mine did? Your policy is only as good as what it says on it and my agent made sure I understood mine. I knew what was covered and what wasn't and was able to choose if I wanted to add or remove items. My agent helped me through the claims process as well.

We were switched over to Safeco due to company change. Since June 2015, it's been nothing but headaches (putting it mildly). Like many others, paperwork not processed correctly. Data entry info. was either not entered or entered incorrectly. They placed us on full coverage without our concent. We faxed proper papers to place us on our choices, which was received and processed. Only to learn days later they changed it back to full coverage. 7 different representatives from June thru Dec. All of which had conflicting information on our policy. We now canceled by phone and asked to have a confirmation of the cancelation sent via email. The end of the reps statement was ok BYE! So yes very rude and unprofessional. My summary, I do believe they should be investigated. Something just isn't right!

Had a patio drain fail during a downpour, which led to flooding of 2 carpeted bedrooms. Immediately called 911 and HOA, who stopped and later repaired the leak. Filed all proper papers with Safeco, whose home office assured us that, after our deductible, they would "cover things." Yet local adjuster refused to even come to the house, and denied us all coverage. We are now out $6000, plus the cost of our annual premium for this "insurance."

I changed to Safeco due to the cost. I was adding another car on my policy and discovered that they canceled my insurance on the same day due to not providing 6 months of previous coverage. Unfortunately I NEVER received the letter. I immediately obtained new insurance however Safeco did not report my coverage to DMV. I submitted the information to DMV and yet again Safeco neglected to verify it with DMV. I now have a suspended registration and if this cannot be corrected will have to pay a fine of $250.00. When I contacted their customer service, I was informed that they will take care of this within 3 business days! This is their neglect and it should be resolved immediately. So if you do not want to receive a fine through DMV and you want professional service, I recommend DO NOT USE SAFECO. I am now with Progressive and have received excellant customer service as well as price.

I just CANNOT afford to have it to where he would not be covered on my policy/excluded. Other insurances do what is know as Non-rated. I know that he does not have to be under my policy by law, because both him and I lived with his mother before I bought the house and had that address listed on our liscense and did not have to have her policy for our vehicles. He drives my car about 2 times a year and the likelihood of him getting into an accident it slim, however, This is not a chance that I can take. Please let your superiors know that this is a BIG problem. I will be posting this on my social media sites and the internet and will be sure to let others know this about this new company. I was really excited to learn that I could save money through your company, until I actually had your policy. It has been a non-stop nightmare ever since I signed on with Safeco. I hire a layer and they raised my home owner insurence 12 times more! After two years they still doesn't paid and I already paid them 10k for 2 years homeowner insurence. Do not use them! After filling out an online inquiry to get vehicle insurance quotes I got a call from a Goji employee. I went over the declaration page from my current insurance and was assured that after checking with other companies, the best duplicate coverage available was with Safeco and that Safeco offered much more for less money. However I quickly discovered that the policy written was missing many key elements. For several days I tried to reach the Goji agent (by phone message and email) with no response. Finally I called the main Goji number and kept getting transferred by the automated system until I was speaking to a Safeco agent. Then I learned that it is a common problem that the Goji employees don't include essential elements in order to lower the premium and get the new customer signed up. When the missing elements were added to the Safeco auto policy it increased the premium by $500 which was the same price as my current carrier that I have been with for over a decade. I also learned that Goji is just a branch of Safeco. It is an incestuous relationship and their methods are totally unethical.

SAFECO policy holder hit my car and my car got total loss, i file claim with SAFECO and i had police report where their policy holder admit his fault and even photograph clearly indicate his fault, SAFECO claim agent is saying that their policy holder is not in contact so i have to wait, since week i wait and no one care about. Enterprise car charge me around $200 and i had only one car for my daily work. Since one week i m suffering and i m getting response that I have to wait until 30 days till their policy holder wait. I m tired of it and going to file police complaint against SAFECO and their policy holder. I had a claim and my car was totaled. I was not at fault. I did have to make a trip to the hospital to get checked out. Was moved to multiple adjusters for the vehicle claim. First guy didn't deal with totaled vehicles. He was responsive but not his department. The total claim adjuster was worthless. I received a settlement amount in a reasonable timeframe but when I had questions they wouldn't respond. I sent multiple emails and calls and no response. I finally called the general number and asked for the adjusters supervisor. That supervisor was responsive and even responded during non business hours. At that point I finally said forget my questions and send me the check. They wore me down. I gave up and took their offer. Great ploy on their part. I thought maybe I ran into a lazy or overworked adjuster and wrote it off as bad luck.
Now I had a medical claim. The medical claim adjuster was aware I went to the hospital to get checked out. Said everything would be covered. No worries. I filled out all their paperwork. Then I start getting past due invoices from medical providers. I call Safeco and they say they never received any medical invoices. Huh? OK. So sent them a copy of one of the invoices I had received. Email got bounced back. So I send from a different account and ask them to respond that they received it and will pay. No response. I ask again the next day. No response. Ask Again, no response. I call the adjuster on the direct line and it goes to voicemail and the voicemail box is full.
So I ask myself, what are the odds that I ran into the two worse adjusters they have? Pretty slim. Must be a systemic customer service issue on their part.
Funny thing, both of the people I dealt with were Senior Claims representatives. Just pray you don't get a regular claims adjuster if this is who Safeco promotes....
I'll be canceling at renewal and tell my agent of their terrible customer service. Hopefully my agent will stop recommending them.

Was in an accident, the first in 20 years; other driver at fault and even cited by police. Adjuster called late the following morning the day after the accident and from there it all began. She talked to me like I was at fault and her emails were rude and ignorant. Was eventually passed on to next level since the other driver now claimed it was my fault. So months go by and now it heads to arbitration. Not one person from Safeco ever called or followed up with a simple email. The only was I knew what was going on was when I called to ask. Here the other insurance company sent letters every 45 days but not one thing from Safeco. Months go by again and I call the other day for an update. Seems arbitrator ruled no decision against either driver and sent info to Safeco three months ago, but yet Safeco just filed it away, couldn't even send a letter. When asked why they couldn't even send a simple letter to me, they had no answer. Asked how another drivers insurance company could send me letters every 45 days and nothing from my own insurance company, they again had no answer. Well Safeco, your lack of communication to your client fails and we will be dropping you veryyyyyyyyy soon!!! Disgusted and extremely disappointed.

2 weeks ago, Safeco insured client hit my car at a parking lot. I was pointed to Safeco adjuster, her name is Kelsey Gonzalez and boy, I am very pissed and very unsatisfied of how she handled the claim.
4th day after the accident, she called me, left me a voicemail, and I called her back, left her a voicemail and never got a response back until I emailed her.
She sent me paperwork to be filled out and said that she could not be reached in the next 5 days, she's busy with her phone calls. WTH.
She also said, the claim would not valid if she could not reach her client, which is bs, because her client was making the call to Safeco and stated the accident before.
2 weeks after, I finally dropped of my car at their preffered mechanic and they got me a rental car from Enterprise but they would not cover the insurance for the rental car. Is this a SCAM ? WTF ? I have been hit before, other insurances cover all full coverage, no matte what kind of coverage of my insurance. Kelsey Gonzalez was stating that Safeco will not cover any insurance and not gonna make any better from what I already have. I was so gonna slap her on the phone she said that.
Full coverage from Enterprise is $24/day, so I had to pay that out of my own pocket.
I talked to another adjuster too, he said the same thing.
Funny, that I talked to Safeco customer and explained that it was not my responsibility of this rental car, the customer service of Safeco said, "yeah, I would not want that too.".

On April 11, I got into a car accident and the other individual was a drunk driver who cut me off. I could have seriously been injured, but what Safeco did to me was much worse. That night I called Safeco to file a clam and 3 days later an adjuster followed up with me. The adjuster took my statement and then told me they would be in contact soon. 4 days go by and I never got a call from the adjuster so I called him, and found out that he had gone on jury duty and thought it would be okay if that was something I didn't need to know. So I called, and filed my complaint then I got assigned a new adjuster who told me that I needed to talk to Allstate, the other individuals insurance company to get reimbursement from my vehicle. They made me do all the work of pulling the other insurance companies hand, and they didn't help me once. So I stopped calling Safeco cause I realized how useless they were, and dealt with Allstate on my own, and did the best I could do. This entire time my vehicle was totaled, and therefore I was jobless cause I work out of my car. I was incredibly upset with the lackadaisical understanding that Safeco had with my situation. So when all was done Safeco decided to give me a call to let me know that I still owed $70 for the following moth even though I had been carless and their was no need for insurance. This company is cheap, useless, unhelpful and most of all GREEDY. I am so glad to have left this company and I advise anyone else to do so because they are cheap bastards who don't really care about their customers.

Then, she gets on the phone and instead of just asking what happened, she asked very leading, insinuating questions. The damage to my son's car is very clear and explains exactly what happened. Today she says they are taking 90% responsibility to their insured and 10% to my son. He has no responsibility here. The collision place is in shock they are even trying to say he did because, as I said, it's very clear. I'm calling the Insurance Commission today and I'm getting an attorney. We've had to deal without a car for 2 weeks while they have taken their time. She then tried to twist my words around with me so I let her know how evil she is. Pain and suffering is not just physical. I don't believe in suing but in this case, I will get whatever I can because they are horrible, horrible people. They should be ashamed.

I selected SafeCo when we bought our home because the rates were resonable. First year policy cost was $990 for my 1,542 sqft home. Next year the price increased to $1,455. Third year the price increased to $2,127. I never filed a claim. I called to ask why my premium has jumped over 130% in just 2 years and was told that there had been a lot of claims in Texas those years and that everyones rates in Texas were going up. So in general, i am punished for someone else filing a claim. I switched right then. Fast forward two more years, I was stupid enough to ge back to SafeCo. I thought maybe the first time was just a fluke. First year $1,117, second year $1,891. Never filed a claim. I dropped them a second time. These guys suck you in with low rates and then up your rates at every renewal. Don't be suckered into doing business with SafeCo. I am now with Progressive for 5 years and love it.

I got in a nasty accident, two ladies failing to properly yield at a 2 way stop. I got slightly t-boned by one and hit by the other. I was sandwiched. Luckily, I had a witness who testified on the police report, other insurance companies accepted fault on the claim next day. After all the dust settled, I was left with 8,000, my broken car and 5K paid off toward what I owed, sucks! It is what it is. I totally lost since I paid so much for the vehicle new. Safeco setup a rental for me and at the end of the service, I was stuck with a bill of 290.00. Insurance company didn't mention the costs on my end, no heads up. Didn't care. They are like robots, they scan your policy and immediately follow protocol, no heads up, no nothing.
Once everything was settled, I ask my agent to quote me on a new sports car I was looking at buying, they quoted me 600 for just liability! I felt stabbed in the back. 6+ years down the drain, its obvious they didn't want me back.
I go in search of new quotes, everyone is quoting me what SafeCo was charging before the accident, 157/mo and were actually cheaper with a lot of the same services. SafeCo thinks I'm now a liability even though it is 100% proven it wasn't my fault. I feel used. Screw them!

After being a safeco home insurance policy holder for 5+ years, we ended with a missed payment because of change in our credit card. Safeco terminated the policy immediately. The agent was worse and told us there will be a reinstatement fee of 2 months premium. We had to scramble to get coverage back.

I see a lot of reviews on here for Safeco not paying claims and you know what? They shouldn't have. READ YOUR POLICY, PEOPLE! KNOW WHAT YOU'RE PURCHASING! I've worked in the insurance industry for 15 years as an agent and I know which companies are great and which ones to avoid. Safeco is actually one of the best. The person who had a god-knows-how-old leak in the crawlspace? Most companies would have declined that claim unless you had the coverage added to your policy. The person who had their Charger damaged by a flying umbrella? No company would have covered that-that falls on YOUR comprehensive coverage-not the property owners insurance. Know what you're buying...if you don't check it out and ONLY purchase coverage based on price alone, then you're going to pay for it later.

I have had Safeco Insurance now for 4 years. I have had 2 claims with them so far and both were not at fault and both have been fully covered so far. The first claim was in September after I got married and we were on our honeymoon. My vehicle was parked at home while we were gone and someone had done a hit and run and damaged my car. I spoke with my agent upon return and he advised me to get a police report and a repair estimate first before filing the claim because it will speed things up. I can say things definitely went fast and smooth. It took me a day to get things squared away with the police. I called in the claim to Safeco and they set me up with an appt. to get my car looked at the next day. The next day after getting an estimate on my car I spoke with the rep and they were waiting for a copy of the police report to insure my claim was going to be an UIM claim. It took approximately 2 days for them to verify the information and the next day I had a check in the mail for the repairs to go to any shop I pleased.My second claim I was rearended while waiting to make a left turn. It totaled my vehicle and I had(still have) back and neck injuries. The other party's insurance I went through for the property damage portion of the claim, which was Mutual of Enumclaw, and they paid out within 2 weeks of the accident and gave me a rental car for 10 days to find a replacement vehicle. Safeco is handling my injury claim because I have PIP and they pay that out immediately instead of waiting to settle like Mutual of Enumclaw would. Safeco keeps regular updates on my injuries with monthly phone calls to see how I am doing and if I will be continuing treatment. The Mutual of Enumclaw claim rep hasn't spoken to me once since the initial contact where they accepted liability to see how I am doing. Safeco has paid out every bill they have received the next day and is in contact with me via phone and email.

Personally, after reading through all of these reviews, I would say to each poor review that about 90% of this is up to your agent. If your agent isn't representing you, then the blame needs to go on them! I read some of the reviews after I had already filed a claim and am in shock. I had the best experience when filing a claim with Safeco. Two days after I called I had in inspector at my home. Almost three weeks later I had a check and a brand new roof. I have had other claims with insurance companies like State Farm and Farmers they were never this fast or helpful. This was my three claim in my life and second on home insurance. Safeco was by far the cheapest, fastest, and overall best experience.

When I found out that the insurance carrier I have had for 25 years was pulling out of NH i was not happy. I had heard bad things about SAFECO. I have had very minimal claims in the past 25 years, mostly all windshields from damn trucks that do not tarp their loads. Well afte just under 1 year with SAFECO, I hit a raccoon with my BMW. Looked very minor to me, no paint damage, just a few plastci parts doen low. I took it to my body man,and it was a $1700.oo claim, BMW,go figure. Well I was very happy, the SAFECO adjuster was professional and I got mycheck in record time. I stand corrected, now if they only keep my rates the same.

I had switched auto coverage from GEICO to SAFECO several years ago, because SAFECO nearly doubled my home insurance premium. I called them, and they stated they could offer significant savings if I insured my automobile with them. While their auto premium was slightly higher than GEICO, I switched to SAFECO due to the overall savings (and GEICO didn't offer home insurance in my state).
It wasn't long before SAFECO nearly doubled my auto insurance premium. I recently added another vehicle, and the cost increased to beyond ridiculous. I've maintained a perfect driving record for decades, have never filed a claim with them and have an exceptional credit rating. I asked a representative why premiums went up so drastically and received no explanation other than they were increasing rates for everyone.
I just switched to a better-rated insurer (same coverage), and my annual premium is now over $1,000 less than with SAFECO. I feel like SAFECO has totally ripped me off! Watch out for bait-and-switch! They are BY FAR THE WORST insurance carrier I’ve ever used!

Safeco added my roommate on as a driver without my permission and then called me demanding their personal information for the policy. They said they ran my address and found out that someone else lived in my home and added them as a driver on my car. My roommate has their own car and own insurance and NEVER would drive my car. They refused to take them off my policy. They had me sign a waiver saying they would never drive my car and told me they would remove them after I did that. I signed the waiver, but they still refused to remove them from the policy and increased my rates by $200! I finally got a customer service person on the phone that said they had the waiver and she would remove them. 1 week later I get a message from them saying they have added them back on and need their personal information. NO WAY! I struggled with this for over a year and after being lied to and this done behind my back I can not trust them. I have moved on to another provider.

I have had cars damaged and repaired befor but I have never been treated like I was by Safeco - damage to my trucks fender - I bumped a pole in a parking lot - the wanted to be the sole estimate of damage - the guy did the estimate in 30 seconds didn't even pop the hood and said don't worrry if there is anything else we will find it as we work on the vehicle:( - I have ran a shop for years so when I told him I would just fix it myself he low balled the estimate literally gave me a list of after market item off eBay and some from a wrecking yard including wiring . Went with this company through a broker because it was the best deal. At my next renewal, they sent the new rates. My premium sky rocketed for no apparent reason. If I went with the pay in full option, it would be 15% higher than before with the pay in full option. If I did the payment plan, it was going to be 21% higher than the previous premium on a payment plan. It is now the most expensive of all the options I have. Switching to a new provider.

Safeco's inability to clarify its rates for me when I decided to cancel my policy after an accident led to a MASSIVE rate hike, and their subsequent referral of my account to the most belligerent collection department left me with a bill of over $200 on a cancelled policy that I finally agreed to pay just to end the frustration I experienced in trying to get clarification from them. My daughter was in an accident on October 19th and I am still waiting for the settlement check over 1 month later. I have talked to numerous different agents and departments through this process. Most were nice people, but the bottom line is that the details were not taken care of. I had a change in address that wasn't noted so the check got sent to the wrong address and then when they put a stop payment on the check they reissued the check to the same wrong address again. Now, I have to wait until after Thanksgiving to hopefully receive a check, which will be 5 weeks after the accident and we have been out of a vehicle the entire time. Poor customer service. If I had read the reviews, I would have not changed companies and gone with this company. I had a slow leak behind my dryer in my laundry room. I only found it because we are in the processing of updating flooring upstairs and down in our 1996 home. When we moved our w/d dryer in order to tile the floor, we discovered the leak...BEHIND A DRYER, IN A CORNER, ON A PEDESTAL. My advice to everyone is, DON'T EVER USE SAFECO INSURANCE! My accident was on June 24th. A semi hit me, and it was their fault. It took them a whole month to even contact the other insurance company about the accident!!!!!! The guy I have been dealing with tried to give me the easy way out for him by paying the $500 deductible when it wasn't my fault, otherwise they might have to take them to court. I denied to because the other company should be paying for everything. All he has told me in the mean time is that they haven't been able to get ahold of the company. This guy hasn't been a help to us whatsoever! We couldn't even get ahold of the customer care line. They gave us a call when I was at work, I've called them 10 times since and two voicemails and haven't gotten a call back. After all this time I'm still paying for my totaled car, and have been borrowing a family members car for over a month now. It's been over two months and I should have some sort of word on what's going on. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T EVER USE SAFECO!

My house was vandalized on 2/6/2016 by someone related or friends with the man that murdered my daughter. Safeco sent in a so called restoration company that basically stole what wasn't totaled. The house was flood here it is 6 most later my HVAC vents are still full of water. Safeco refuses to share the mold report even though my father is a 85 year old disabled Viet Nam Vet. We were told that until I give a statement they will not pay. If I fix anything prior to their approval they will not pay.
A request for a statement was not sent to me until 25 + days after the vandalism. Since I couldn't leave my father alone for the threaten 5 days of this EUO, and could not drive daily to San Francisco, they stalled until now to schedule it. It will be done this Fri. Safeco will then take another 90 days before they will deny it. It's more cost effect to bleed me for attorney fees in order to make them honor the policy. Their right 5 thousand dollars later, no payment even for a tooth brush I'm broke and living in 95 degree weather with no air conditioning.
Don't purchase anything from them.

This Co. has the worst customer service. Every single person I have spoken with has had the rudest attitude. They insured a client who rear ended me and refused to speak with me on the issue for over 2 months. I was apparently switched over to a different insurance adjuster from the initial one due to her moving states, without one word being said to me and after my multiple attempts to get ahold of her to check the status of my claim. They toyed me around so long that they are claiming they will not cover my medical bills due to a large gap in seeking care; again I could not get ahold of anyone from safeco for over 2 months. When it came to fixing my vehicle that was a fight all on its own, although the police report clearly stated the accident was of fault done by their client whom of which received a summons as well for careless driving.

This is by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had!
1. We are active duty Army and moved across the country because of re-stationment. I called to change the address of residency for out auto policy and renter's insurance prior to our move, to our new residency. Come to find out the idiot who I changed the address with "accidentally" cancelled our policy. So the entire drive across country, we were uninsured. When we arrived at our new place I called to get the renter's insurance proof of coverage emailed over. Come to find out they messed it up and didn't have it for the correct address because they "couldn't find the address" (because it was a new apartment building built within the complex). So upon arrival from our drive across the entire country we had to sit in the rental office for an HOUR getting this squared away before we could officially sign our lease!!!!! All because of ANOTHER ERROR ON THEIR PART!!!!
2. When we cancelled they told us we would be able to set up a payment arrangement with them to take care of the final balance. Well, they sent us a final bill which we did not receive in the mail until after the due date, since they sent it to OUR OLD ADDRESS in Oregon, even though we'd changed our address with them. Upon receipt I called and explained to them. Sure enough a week later I receive a letter in the mail from their legal team. Ridiculous because again it WAS THEIR ERROR!!!!!!
3. I set up a payment arrangement with the legal team for three payments to come out of my checking account. First payment came out no problem, second payment came out no problem; yet I get a call from the legal team saying the second payment bounced (NSF). Well I call Safeco and they tell me that the payment came through and posted and gave the date of post and everything. Some fishy crap going on here! Not only that the law office threatened to put a warrant out for my arrest, but to sue me, EVEN AFTER EXPLAINING THE MAILING ISSUES!!!!

We bought our home last July. We received a notice in the mail today 5/26/2016 telling us that we are a serious risk and they are canceling us for what actually is a few small branches, not even limbs, hanging over our roof, 2 small (approx. 12 inches) areas on our facia that paint is starting to peel, and the down spout on our gutter on the front of our home was gone. Gutter down spout is there, had fallen off we were putting it back up when we returned from vacation....which was yesterday. We went to our agent, he called safecrap....safeco for us. Oh and the letter said they contacted our agent....our agent was unaware of any of this....so our agent speaks with a lady with safeco, and she tells him they sent a notice to us and our agent in September 2015. My agent told her ....no this is the first any of us have heard anything from your company. So by the end of the phone call they decided to give us time to "make the repairs". I got a call from my agent a few hours later, and he told me he received another call back from safeco and the lady told him that they were going to just cancel our policy anyway since we don't have our vehicle insured with them.
This is crap, I believe unlawful. They can choose to non-renew at time of renewal, they cannot cancel a policy because your car isn't insured with them. They can only cancel if you make to many claims in a period of time, or are a serious hazard risk. We are neither. We have had lots of rain and snow in Colorado....been a little hard to climb on a roof to cut small branches back. Not even anything big enough to use a chain saw on.
I am glad the lady called back and said they will cancel us anyway because our vehicle is not insured with them....I will call every agency I can come up with to report these thieves., and tell what they just did.

Safeco seemed like a great deal and we were going to sign on. However we didnt want to sign digitally but rather wanted to receive the documents in the mail. Oh they were SO efficient they took the money from our bank before we signed anything. Seemed fishy. Went to our original local insurance who we could talk to face to face and got the same low price. and decided to cancel Safeco. They are not so efficient about giving money back. We closed on our home February 29th, safeco sent letter of cancellation March 19th! The reasons given didn't even make sense, not for cancellation! Now we are scrambling around to obtain insurance within the next four weeks that will satisfy the lenders requirements! it should be a crime to cancel the way they did and just leave people hanging and stressing because they didn't want to do their job before closing!

At first they were great. Filed small claim 5 yrs ago and premiums have gone up $400 a year every year since. I even had to increase my deductible from $500 to $5000 and still going up on premiums. My house is not worth what they are claiming and agent will not lower the value. It appraises for $80,000 and Safeco insures for $242,000.00. Just wish they would be fair like they were 20 years ago. My house is 100 years old and they have me over a barrel.

We have been with Safeco for 20 years and not once did we ever have any issues. Then in last 12 months, our rates for Auto/Home have gone thru the roof. Our auto went from $325/mos to $662. Our homeowner policy pretty much stayed the same. The offered NO explanation and didn't care one bit about loyalty! My agent for Safeco was AAA and they tried to inquire about a reason and they wouldn't tell them anything! Even when I threatened to cancel, they could care less. We found another national carrier that saved us with Auto/Home over $5000/ year. Other quotes ranged in savings from $3200-4500 per year. So SAFECO, in my opinion, was looking to rip off my bank account. These companies do whatever they want and offer no explanation to their customer! Screw them! Their underwriters are there to make sure that Safeco's bank accounts are getting full with our hard earned money and then turn around and double my rates after 20 years! I'm taking my business elsewhere and others should too!! Good riddens Safeco!

Was with them for a year and then I get a letter stating that they don't want to renew my insurance. After looking into and resolving the matter, they let me know a few days before the renewal date that they will renew it. However, with out telling me, they jacked up my rate by an additional $100 dollars and the only way I found out was through the bill. I immediately cancelled and searched for a new provider but they still charged me for the higher rate that I never give consent to for the 11 days I was under them.

I had a water pipe break behind my second story shower. They sent an independent adjuster who didn't take into account the full cost of replacing the shower. My contractor immediately brought it up with the initial quote. They instructed us to submit a supplemental claim. They wouldn't call us back for over 1 month. I finally got so frustrated I paid the contractor out of pocket so I could get my house put back together. They never fully reimbursed my cost out of pocket. Now I will have to go to court to attempt to get what my policy claims I was paying for. They are cheats. Their claims adjusters are completely unresponsive, rude, and will even hang up on you when you are trying to get basic help. Unbelievable experience.

When claim was filed, Safeco was completely unavailable at first, and then hostile. They refused to cover the cost of repairing the heating system which we had paid to insure. Truly evil people.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I never even started my policy with them for home and auto, they gave me a quote and it sounded good. I set up auto withdrawl and called to cancel my current insurance. My current insurance beat their quote and I called the agent back to stop Safeco from drawing out money. Needless to say it was already done, so they sent me paoers to cancel policy, by the way had never signed papers to start the policy. That was on January 23 with a January 28 start date.So cancelled before it started and here I am on February 9th and they still havent out my money back in my account...claiming they released funds but it is my bank delaying put it in my account....my bank says there is nothing pending to go in my account. .....fast to take your money but not to give it back. I called to get a quote from safeco. The quote seemed reasonable so I gave them my credit card # and scheduled for the policy to begin the following week. Later the same day I got a quote from State Farm for much cheaper so I called SafeCo to cancel my quote. My policy hadn't started yet so I didn't anticipate a problem. The representative informed me that they would cancel my policy, but would still bill my card on the scheduled day for $450. I informed them that the policy didn't start yet and they didn't have my authorization to debit anything from my account. They still debited the money. The rep assured me it would be refunded within 3 days. It was not. I called back and they told me they put a 2 week hold on it. Almost a month later I still have not recieved my $ back. STAY AWAY FROM SAFECO INSURANCE AT ALL COSTS. DO NOT TRUST THEM REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST.

I was told Safeco was a top customer rated company. Boy was I given the wrong information. They continually raised my rates for auto and home owner insurance. I have a perfect record for driving. Customer service was the worst I have ever experienced with an insurance agent. When I finally had time to research other insurance companies, I found that I was being taken advantage of by Safeco. I switched everything over immediately.

Worst customer service when the adjuster first refused to pay liability, then someone else called me with a quote to but out my car and then I get a mail saying I am responsible and have to pay??? Agent at SafeCo was Shanon Mcmurry and she was horrible!! I was polite and emailed and called only one time a week so as not to harass her. Finally I left a disgusted voice mail requesting immediate call back. Did the same with email and FINALLY got response after Three weeks!!! I told her claim was only $330 dollars so claim could be closed. She said”I already sent you a check” a blatant LIE!! Then she really did send a check saying my claim had exceeded the $1,000 mark and therefore I was entitled to reimbursement. I told her again claim was only for $330 dollars well below my $1,000 deductible amount. Even sending her a copy of the final bill. She then said too late I’ve issued a check so you now have a claim against your policy and are being cancelled and no renewal. As I had one other zero dollar claim I can no longer get insurance through reputable companies like Allstate, State Farm or Geico as they don’t cover “high risk” homeowners!! High risk for two zero dollar claims!!! Now the only companies that will insure me have horrible reviews, cost triple what my cost was $560 previously and now $1,990!!! It’s all Shanon Mcmurry’s fault for not doing her job. Now even if I return the check she sent me the claim remains and my costs skyrocket. Horrible customer service issues go on but they are too numerous to type. Don’t insure with SafeCo!! It’s far from Safe!!

I asked for cost of same coverage I had from travelers, thought I was getting the same coverage- totally not true. My son's parked car was hit, no rental coverage, no loss of use coverage (although mysteriously my car has loss of use coverage.) Claim estimated 10 days to fix, he got his car back from Erik's Auto Body, CA 53 days post accident, I had to pay the $1000 deductible AND over $2000 to Hertz for his rental. Safeco's response? In the short I live in California we drove our motorhome 260 miles to Las Vegas to a car show and the car the car that I was Towing was vandalized along with the motorhome motorhome wouldn't start because they cut all the wires and bleach in a gas tank in both vehicles the truck in the motorhome I contacted Mandy and file the claim she claims that the claim is bogus and took it to Hertz mechanics in Las Vegas and I went home now they won't fix it and I can't afford to tow it home so me my wife and four boys just lost my motor home because I can't afford to tow it home they refuse to do anything about it when it's clearly vandalized and it's been admitted by Harold at Hertz mechanics in Las Vegas I'd recommend Safeco to nobody because obviously I just lost a motorhome because it won't drive home and I can't afford to tow it

This company is horrible. I'm not sure how they treat they're clients, but don't get T-boned by one of they're clients! It took them over 4 months before they would even talk to me. Called numerous times without a response. They refused to pay for a rental car. They told me they weren't paying anymore for this vehicle because they got a over $3000 tow charge for it... but you're company left it in tow, why am I eating your costs!? I'm still in the lawsuit over medical bills and personal injury with them. They had my car in the tow yard longer than I had to drive it, put 65% of my household income out of work for a month plus, had to move in with people out of state, and I couldn't even get a rental car nor enough to actually replace my vehicle. I finally got to the point of being so frustrated with them I sent in my title as asked; I then receive an email stating they still needed an address to mail this insufficient check to... I had to tell the lady, it's on the same paper you got the claim number from! Idiots!!! Avoid at all costs if u can.

Safeco is my current insurance company but is actively working against me. Safeco is turning a zero loss accident into thousands of dollars of loss. As of 3/22/2016 I am working through a hit and run accident that occurred on 3/12. I initially called Safeco for a claim because of hit and run. Later, the at fault driver was arrested and found to have liability insurance. I explained this to Safeco but they insisted on keeping the claim. At the time I thought, wow, now this is customer service. Unfortunately for me, Safeco provided a repair estimate of about 14,500 using reconditioned and non-Honda parts. I told them no and filed a claim with National General. They inspected my 2015 Honda Pilot and immediately called me to say it was totaled. They said the driver only had 25,000 of coverage and I needed to let Safeco know. I did and this is where Safeco starts to work against me. Safeco says my Pilot is not totaled and it will be fixed using the sub-par parts. I explained to Safeco that I have gap insurance with my dealership. The gap insurance will pay off any balance of the 31,000 owed. If the Pilot is totaled, I will walk away with no loss. Sadly, Safeco says the Pilot cannot be totaled even though National General says it is a complete loss. Once repaired, the Honda Pilot that use to have a trad-in value of 30,000 will only trade in for about 20,000. Post repair the value will drop by 10,000. There is not enough money for the liability company to pay that and Safeco is not responsible for diminished value. I have never dealt with a company so adamant about causing it's own customer to loose thousands of dollars.

In all the years I had them I never had an issue because I never needed their services. But every year my policy went up, and even more after I made my first claim. I left them after I realized how safeco was financially raping me. Apparently they are pissed I've smarted up and sending me to a collection agency for 114$ instead of working out a payment plan. But they can deduct monthly payments in lieu of sending me a check for money I overpaid in the past. Double standards much?

Less than a year ago I switched to Safeco because my other insurance went up and Safeco had a good price. Then, my car was in a collision that caused the engine to fail. The Safeco adjuster said the collision did not cause the engine failure, but the mechanic and an independent inspector both said that it did. Safeco doctored the reports and denied my claim. Their adjuster, David Brooks, was an arrogant, insulting, know-it-all bully both to me and my mechanic. I don't care how much it will cost to switch to another company, Safeco will never get another dime out of me.

With in a matter of 6 weeks I filed 3 claims the first 2 were minor and required little payout and we're not my fault. The 3rd claim was a total loss, we have be getting major floods in Texas and my car was flooded and considered a total loss. They gave me above value and so once I paid my loan off I was able to make a down payment on another vehicle. I paid a little more but I can complain. I recommend SAFECO to everyone!!

Absolutely the worst company ever!! One of their 3 reasons for ending my policy was because a piece of siding fell off. i was in an accident that was not my fault at all. there were incidents that occurred before hand that would show and make proof that the driver was having issues and thats what caused the accident. i have even asked safeco to request the 911 calls and they would not even do that. they state that the police report is all they need and then give you a whole bunch of BS. Safeco is out to help all of the other insurance company's win. they will not even stick up for you even when you have not had an accident in over 10 years or more. they are out to get your money and make you pay even more out of pocket. I am currently applying for a Govt. Job and Kevin from Safeco threatened to open an investigation on my car before paying for any emissions parts. I couldn't take that chance, so they did not pay the full claim. The parts that were covered were replaced with used parts. Beware of Safeco.

I was robbed Christmas Eve by a friend of my son and two of his gangster friends. He was seen and admitted it happened. The Roswell police had no concern do the fact he was a minor and the ring leader was in jail for armed home invasion. In the only one on one interview the police did. He changed his story no less than five times according to the police. He claimed my son told him to do it.

Got into a deer hit in 3/29/2015 on a funeral trip caused damage to front bumper. Had my 2003, Toyota Highlander fixed at one of the Safeco preferred Abra in Woodbury, Mn location. Long story short, the last week of February 2015 I noticed the right side of the bumper became loose and dropped down about 1/2 an inches. In 3/5/2015 bought the vehicle back to Abra for their warranty service. Dennis, claimed and accused me of having involved in another accident without a scratch or mark on the bumper. He then claimed the winter may had caused the damage. A part that was boken or failed by itself was defected. Dennis did offered to repair but never mentioned if the repair warranty. So, I turned it down. Talked to his manager the same thing happened. I then ask for the original work order found out it was a recondition bumper. Contacted Safeco insurance adjuster Courtney Bennet, here her appraisal Timothy 3/24/15, I explain to him both sides of the story he slapped me in the face by defending Abra's accusations 100%. Tim offered me 3 different sources where Abra got the bumper from, 1st from a rear ended vehicle, 2nd from a sources that offered no warranty on it's part and last forget about the recondition bumper, it was a brand new bumper Abra did it so just to cover up so they didn't get trouble from safeco used parts cost effective initiative. So, now that he turn the used bumper into a brand new one it fall outside of safeco's warranty for taking the risk of using used part. He gave me more than 10 scenario how he think I broke my bumper. Now, Timothy claim that he could help me to get fixed but when his boss reviews it he would then lost his job in result of that. He careless to take a good look at the broken pieces to determine it was fresh or its been there long ago. So, he made me speechless just listen and cannot believe Safeco had such lier expert. I heard plenty of people getting fired for not helping their customers but for Safeco is the opposite.

If you hit another vehicle, Safeco will often try to pin a percent of the fault on the other driver, even when the evidence doesn't warrant it, thus creating hostility and possible lawsuits.

I canceled my policy when I was told by the representative that my policy was ended and was told that I was paid thru. The next month after cancelation I receive a bill. The bill is stating it is for coverage they provided. When I called they state it is a fee that Safeco puts in place in my state. No one knows what is going on and when your premium is expected to come out. Very disappointed and will never use Safeco again.

We had been with Nationwide for 20 years and our agent then reviewed all of our insurance and found that Safeco (Liberty) was a significant savings. Five months after switching to Safeco, we woke up to find 2 inches of water in our entire main floor of our 2 story house. Needless to say, this was a rather traumatic experience. Once we called Safeco and informed them of the water, 2 hours later a tech arrived and assessed and starting drying. We wouldn't be sleeping in our house again for 6 months, dogs and all. Our experience with Safeco, Safeco's subs, ALE temp housing, and our Safeco Agent were unbelievable. Frankly I was waiting for the moment that I was going to get screwed, it never happened. Not only did it never happen, the experience exceeded my expectations. We are now dealing with the last bit of claiming personal items and they are great. I feel a bit guilty giving them a 4 for service, but what takes a long time is getting a personal item approved, getting the check takes no time. I think that with Covid, everything takes a bit longer, but I can't imagine that Nationwide would have been a great. Side note, a friend of mine has Safeco for Auto and had a claim and it went very well.

This is the most CROOKED and SCANDALOUS company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. We are actually current customers (until the second I get a new quote from ANY OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY) and were hit by a driver that has this awful insurance. My wife was discriminated against for being a woman and given the run around for 3 months. She did everything they requested and after each follow up was met with disrespect and shallow responses. They quoted our car's value at 35k pre accident and are suggesting its diminished value is now 31k. After a couple of appraisals, the best offer we got was 20k. After repeatedly asking them who they got a number 11k more than ours was we were told it was their "Best Educated Guess" based on all the experience they have in this industry. They also followed this statement by saying that almost all diminished value situations fall within 1k and 3k?????!!?!? Do you think you are talking to a complete idiot? I am absoultely furious and will NEVER be a Safeco / Liberty Mutual customer again and will post in every corner of the internet to safe anyone else from this SCAM of a company. My advice is to run away and pray that you never get hit by someone with this ridiculous excuse for an insurance company representing them...you will be sorry and screwed, trust me!

I totaled my truck in an accident. They refuse to give my a fair value for my truck, I had only had it a year and 1/2, low miles, excellent condition. They used comparisons to other trucks out of my state, higher miles and not the same options. Very unfair value, costing me thousands. They are most unreasonable, unfair company out there. Refused to even listen to reason, or care about the customer. This is not the first time they've refused to give us the appropriate coverage on a claim, and we've only had 3 (one was just towing)dropping them asap!

I had a tire go out on our RV and it took over 5 hours to get help with the tow. Not only that it took 8 different transfers of people and being put on hold countless times to get someone to help. Paid 213 dollars to Safeco for a tow that never came. Tow truck driver called and said Safeco canceled the job and he left. its around 11pm that my family finally got a lift to go home while I waited for the tow truck to finally come. Been with Safeco for a long time and will be leaving them ASAP. waiting for refund of the 213 dollars.

We live in a rural area so it took almost four weeks to get an estimate for repairs. Even though we notified when the problem was noted, Safeco told us the delay in estimate made this an "existing issue" and would not cover anything. Highly dissapointed and will be going elsewhere from now on.

I have a special clause on my insurance that covers sump pump failure and the damage that results. Well, my sump pump in my crawlspace failed. I had no idea it failed because I can't hear it run from inside and I don't make it a point to crawl under my house but a couple times a year. So because of the failure, moisture caused my insulation to fall out and caused mold. The first adjuster I talked to was across the country from me and tried to dispute me. The man didn't even live in the same state as me and was trying to tell me what my issue was. I got moved onto another field adjuster in my area. He came out and tried to tell me the prices they find normal in the area shows them that repair would cost $1500 to replace insulation. I'd love to know what contractors they use because everyone I've called hasn't priced me anywhere near that. That cost would barely cover cleaning up the old insulation let alone replacing it and to treat the mold issue. Then I find out I have a separate coverage for mold remediation. So technically I should get up to $10k for these issues and they're trying to tell me they'll only give $1500. It's an absolute insult. I pay for insurance for a reason and now they try and fight me to give me what I need to repair it.

I was shopping around for a car after crashing my car a few months back, and I needed a quote from an insurance company to get a loan through carmax. I had asked my mom to check with her insurance company, safeco, about a policy and rates. These rates would influence the car I bought since I would like to be able to afford it. They give a rate for a little over $300, keep in mind she told them about my accident a few times. A week ago they sent her a bill for $600, which I can't afford. I got a quote from geico for a policy on my own as a 19 year old for $600, which makes sense if it's my own policy. Just don't use safeco!

I switched to another insurance company and when I called Safeco to let them know to cancel my automatic deduction, they told me that I had to go through the agent. With this type of insurance, everything has to go through the agent. I left voice and test messages and emails but no answer from the agent. I finally got through to the billing department and placed my account on manual hold. I was charged an additional amount and the billing department could not tell me what it was for. My agent was not able to give me an explanation. I finally got through to Liberty Mutual who they are under and finally got an explanation of the additional premium.

I have Safeco home insurance. I am here to report worst situation ever. Yes I’m sure they will say every so often see meone slips through the cracks. BS. Rain and wind took my roof off. Jan 18 , 2018. I was told by adjuster all good get it done. Took two weeks for him to review then he left the company. Instead of continuing they started over and it rained again leaking dramatically in our home. There is no short version here but 4 not 2 not 3 , 4 adjusters has personal issues and had to leave, leaving me and my family with no where to stay. We call daily my wife screams there has bed managers apologizing but still nothing covered. Today is APRIL 19 it has been four months and still no roof that they approved in February. If we had the money to fix we still couldn’t afford to stay somewhere else. 2 kids new house still fighting there excuses every single day. They had the nerve to bill us we pay a year upfront and nothing done still. We lost our lifestyle our money everything and nothing from Safeco to get involved and just fix this. Manager dosent want to return our calls because of embarrassment and will (get this) only talk through our insurance agent !!!!!! Who is awesome but lost on this. Worst situation ever almost better to never have had insurance. Some cool Moana’s question and dodge there responsibilities but this company admits our coverage but dosent care about us as people just numbers we have to fight and sue now because they will leave us hanging they will leave u hanging. This "company" is one of the most illegitimate, untrustworthy, and lying businesses that I have ever had the disservice of dealing with in my life. From the beginning, I asked them whether there would be any unforetold or unexpected policy rate increases and they blatantly lied and told me, no, saying how they would not raise my policy rate at all and that I would be paying the same amount each month. Only 2 months later and the rate increases, which I had no say over or was even notified by started. The 1st time they did this my bill went from $70 to $100, then the 2nd time from $103 to $142 and then a 3rd time from $140 to $167. Bear in mind I did not get into any car accidents while I had the auto insurance, no violations, NOTHING. I have a clean record with no tickets, accidents, or violations on my driving record and when I tried asking for an explanation from these people they first told me that it was due to me changing addresses, which I did not do, and then, later on said that they are charging different areas that people live in differently, SO WHICH ONE IS IT? HERE IS MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT THIS COMPANY. WHEN I DECIDED I HAD ENOUGH OF THEIR FRAUDULENT SCAMMING AND CALLED TO CANCEL MY SERVICE, THEY SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME FOR THE DURATION OF THE MONTH THAT I HAD USED THE SERVICE AND NOT THE FULL AMOUNT. NOW THEY HAVE SENT OUT A DEBT COLLECTION TOWARDS ME FOR THE FULL AMOUNT, RUINED MY CREDIT, EVEN WHEN I AGREED TO PAY THEM THE FULL AMOUNT ANYWAY, ON TIME. I had Safeco for over 7 years both home and auto. I had a theft and they did pay the claim. Then 2 years later ice formed and heavy snow and it tore down the gutter and soffet on my home. I had gotten 3 quotes on the repair. When the adjuster finally showed up 3 days later she looked at the damage and told me she would email a quote. The quote she sent was 1/3 of what the repairs would cost. I called back and sent her the 3 quotes that I received and finally she went with the lower one. On the auto is where I have a problem. I have never had any tickets or accidents ever during the time that I was with them and the 2 that I had previously were over 15 years ago and they were not my fault I was rear ended both times. My policy is up for renewal Novermber 2016. I received a renewal that was $600.00 more than I paid over the past years for my 2 vehicles of which I am the only driver. I called and asked why there was such an increase. I was told I need to talk to the agent. I told them they increased it and they should tell me why. They said I need to talk to the agent and transferred me. I had talked to the agent before I called them and he was just as stunned as I was. To go and charge me $600 more for my car insurance it seems to me like they are trying to get their money back for the home repair. I am looking at other insurance companies. They have no customer loyalty appreciation. The heck with Safeco. Thank God I didnt have an accident they probably would have tried to low ball me on that too. Increasing my auto insurance $600 for not having any violations or accidents is so unfair. Shame on you Safeco.

After an auto accident I called Safeco to file a claim. They supposedly called a tow truck to get my car but it never arrived after 90 minutes. Then I have been calling my adjuster two times a day for three weeks to speak with him for the first time and he never returns my call. I have a car in the collision center and I can't even get an adjusts to come look at the car! Worst experience ever. I will never do business with this company ever again.

I signed up with safeco or foursquareinsurance as its also called. I signed them because it was recommended by a friend. It was my first time buying insurance so i did not know the market or how to shop around. So naturally i signed the papers and was not aware that the premium they offered was overpriced from the start and was no on par with the quality of the insurance. If i recall around 740 ~ for the 2 pay plan which i payed every 6 months. The price went up on renewal by around 30 dollars the first time. The price has now gone up to $887! I have no accidents, a low risk vehicle, and a clean driving record. Unfortunately i learned the hard way. I was offered quotes at other insurance providers and they were all 300 to 400 dollars less to start. I will never use this company again after and reading through some of these reviews i can officially recommend that no one use them.

My car was hit by a Safeco insured driver. They took it to a collision center where their guy who worked on it crossed my battery wires and FURTHER damaged my vehicle. They then totaled it out and cut me a check. If that's not a terrible corrupt insurance company. then I don't know what is.

Wouldn't give me any money for a rental after my first accident, simply because I filed the claim with the other party (who was 100% at fault AND totaled my car.) Even if this policy is considered fair, they KNEW it was my first time being in an accident and completely failed to communicate this company policy ahead of time. I'm now stuck with a 200$+ rental payment. Expect them to throw the book at you if you ever try to actually get any money out of them.

Been a customer since 2005. No other company has come close to offering the kind of coverage I have at the same or lower cost and I check at least once every couple of years. However, you do have to go through a insurance agent to get to safeco. I did not care for our agent so I just deal with Safeco directly and they are great to deal with.

I moved from an apartment that required we have renter's Ins., so it's not that i didn't "Want" their service...i merely no longer needed it. It's been a month & a half, and at least 12 calls, and they still can't refund my unused balance. I say can't because they keep claiming that my home address "Does not exist!" Yes, the address that has been confirmed 12 times with them and i get all other mail without issue. They refuse to let me speak to a supervisor. I hated to play this card, but being unemployed & currently disabled still meant nothing to them. I need my money & can't simply write it off. Horrible company & i will do my utmost to destroy them on social media until they at least "Try" to resolve my complaint.

I took my new crashed car to their preferred collision shop..what a nightmare..it took 2 months to repair my car..collision shop underestimated repair time and now they want me to pay for balance of rental..no way.safeco paid approx $21000 yes 21,000.00and then had to pay me diminished value (that amount was way to low)but I had to get a new car..my car should have been totalled.accident in Feb it's mid May and I'm still in an upheaval about safeco's poor response..never able to get answers or calls back..collision shop just as bad..in the future I will go to hospital I I injured or not because that is only way an Attorney can assist you in my state.rip off to clents.I did not want to give any stars but site requires.

Dealing with a Natural disaster in our area, get conflicting information each time I call. Adjuster always quick to hang up. Sense of urgency and compassion lacks, more like we have you scheduled, get to you when we get to you. I Understand many were affected but never having to file a claim before I have lots of questions to ensure don't do something wrong that would affect claim but seems they are overwhelmed with helping. Understaffed to deal with catastrophe events and will look for other company after claim is done.

Have been going through an accident with them for over a month customer service sucks no one answers the phone when you call them don't ever buy motorcycle insurance from this company claim agents are rude agents do not talk to one another and they know it all better have everything in writing because they'll stab you in the back and walk away!!!!!!!

I was with Safeco for years with my home and auto. They went up on my auto insurance this year by $700! After switching providers, I found out Safeco would only refund me $20 of the $230 they owed me from my previous payment. There is apparently a penalty for early termination with them. Many other insurance companies don't have this, but Safeco does! If you cancel before the policy has ended, your insurer will file a "short rate cancellation," which refunds you a pro-rated amount of your premium, minus any early cancellation penalty fees. They took 80% of my prepaid money!!

they increase the policy without checking so much that it double what I'm paying now, and when I try to cancel the policy the agent keep making up excuses so it will get over the due date. finally when they cancelled the policy they already received the check from the mortgage company, now I'm screw because even though I returned the money my mortgage company increase my monthly due to an excess payment.

DO NOT INSURE WITH SAFECO!!!! First of all, they do not fight for their customers. If their insured gets screwed over, they don't care as long as they can up your premium later because of it. This company and the agency I purchased from (Ronald Liu Insurance Agency) are just flat out liars and they just want to keep you as customers, no matter what they have to do to keep you trapped. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE.

After filing a claim for our roof from hail damage, Safeco denied the damage and tried to cover only a portion of the shingles. While our townhouse neighbors all received full replacement costs Safeco tried to claim on a couple shingles were damaged on our roof. They sent out an adjuster and roof expert who did all tests on the wrong side of the roof opposite the leak and said it passed their tests. After further escalation they just stop responding so as to not have to deal with you. I am canceling my policy and finding a real insurance company. Learned my lesson.

Having auto insurance with several companies for over 42 years Safeco is by far the very worst.
Proud, arrogant and condesending employees. They are rude and act like they are doing their customers a favor. Obviously compny policy is self centered and not customer oriented at all. Lacks professionalism. Definitely no leadership and poor management. No help, never answer phones, do not return calls and are limited in knowledge and experience.

I recently had my first car accident (I'm 55 years old) and it was a very traumatic experience. The Agents at Safeco have been amazing. They took control of the situation and made me feel like they were truly on my side. I had challenges thru the process of getting my car fixed, and yet, after I talked to a Safeco agent, I knew things would be ok, and they were! They have the best rates, and even if they didn't, I would still continue with them because I now know what kind of service to expect from them. Thank you Safeco for being with me every step of the way and for taking such good care of me.

I would never ever recommend this company to any of my family nor my friends. just cancel my policy last month and I also had asked to make sure that I was not going to have a payment taken out if I cancelled it in time before next payment and two weeks later. If that they pulled out more than what my normal payment was been I've been fighting for the last 3 days to get my money back this company likes to just take your money and not give back. The way I look at it they still money for my family that did not belong to them. I really do hope people really do you read the reviews to base off if they're going to sign up for something before they actually do it do your homework.

After three months they doubled my rate for no reason. I called them to figure out why. They said I needed to send proof of my previous insurer to keep a discount. I sent it. The bill didn't go down. I called them back. They said they'd correct it. The bill didn't go down. I called back. They said they needed my old declarations page. I sent it. The bill didn't go down. I called back. They said I needed to send the information within 60 days, so the discount was no longer available. I cancelled immediately. They still left me with a bill to pay back the discount I'd gotten for the first three months.

Where to start. Was a very satisfied customer of Safeco for a year. And then it hit me. Another one of their insured's cars, that is. And here I was, thinking it was going to be easy to have my medical claims handled, since, you know, I used Safeco too. NOPE. My medical bills are totaling over $5,000. And what does Safeco offer me as a settlement, INLCUDING time off from work, damage to my car, and pain and suffering? $3,000. Currently in the process of filing a lawsuit. Step up your game, Safeco. You may not miss my policy since I've taken my business elsewhere, but I am not screwing around. Horrible company, and Beth Henderson is a moron. Never ever sign up with them. EVER.

We sold a car on May 27th, & that was eight days before our next months payment was due. The agent had told us that when we sold it & it would be no problem to remove it from our policy, yet when my husband went to pay on our other car policy, he was informed he had to pay one more month on the other car too, even though we no longer own it! My husband argued the point with the agent, as we have Never had this happen, but the agent insisted. We are finding other coverage asap!

Over the last year and a half we have been improving our house and apartment behind it. We are still in the construction stage and because of the lack of available contractors (oil fields taking them away) and the weather, it has been slow going. We have already spent $25,000 on
improvements and buildings (we planned on doing this and more anyway) but because we do not want to replace a roof and paint a surface that is to be build over this spring, they are cancelling us. We had a pool and we took it down and when had contraction debris all that is gone but they still use it as an excuse to cancel us. We had trees removed and trimmed, new fence and gate, new carport and 1200sq feet of driveway added. This company deserves no stars at all. We own our house outright so they can do this I guess.

The rep we were assigned (Satin Johnson) never returns phone calls, never follows up, set us up with a horrible repair company who damaged the car further and then would not own up to it and lost the paperwork! My renters policy lists my apt owners as Additional Interest. Safeco didn't send proof of ins thus my apt charged me $25 to purchase outside insurance for me. Safeco refuses to reimburse me even though they are at fault for not sending the proof of insurance. I have also had to call to have them send my auto proof of ins twice because they didn't send it at the time of renewal. Their customer service lacks much to be desired. I plan to take my business elsewhere.

Bought a rental house in 2012 went with Safeco for the home insurance. Everything was great for a while. After a year my rates sky rocketed by several $100 I was never told why! I stayed with them while I was trying to find another provider then they dropped me because they said my insurance agent was no longer dealing with their insurance or something a long those lines. Overall bad experience. I have since found a more reliable provider and at half the cost of what they wanted me to pay.

Had them out to our house to check our roof after a huge storm in 2011, was told not enough damage to worry about and so we did not file a claim. Got a letter in the mail stating policy will not be renewed, when called to askmore details the reason i was given was becauseour roof had not been repaired since that "claim" in 2011. Even after explaining we never even made a claim we just had them come look at it to see if we needed to do something i was repeatedly shot down and now I am awaiting call back number 4 to speak with a supervisor. HORRID!

I have been on Safeco auto insurance for just over an year now. I was a fan of AAA and I opted this insurance trusting AAA. But I just got another policy for just half of what I was paying to Safeco. They still do not want to reduce any amount even after 1 year. They just try to get you into it and I would say avoid it at any cost.
